Lab 25 / TAI / for approval
TAI reads the whole platform, answers from the books, searches live supply through the supplier APIs, and drafts the work that follows. That is a large surface, and the temptation with a large surface is to give it a large room of its own: a chat, a canvas, a set of widgets nobody else uses. That is the version that rots.
The thesis instead: TAI has no output of its own. It finds with the platform's result rows. It answers with citations that ARE those rows. It searches supply and returns the platform's own offer rows, the same ones the marketplace draws. It acts by drafting a real record you can open, read and refuse. Nothing TAI produces is a thing only TAI makes, which is what keeps it honest and what keeps it from ageing into a novelty.
And one rule governs everything it can do: TAI proposes, the platform commits.
01 / the two rules
02 / the scope
The whole offering, stated once. Each is reached by typing, none by choosing a mode, and each returns the platform's own components.
TAI does not issue, send, pay, cancel or sign. Those are the acts the gate and the dual signature exist to govern, and an assistant that could perform them would be a way around the platform's own safety rather than a use of it. Everything up to the moment of commitment is TAI's; the moment itself is a person's.
03 / TAI's own room
The launcher had no identity, and a field that can search live supply and draft a quotation should not open looking like a filter box. But giving TAI a permanent world of its own would break the system, so it takes the one dramatic device the system already owns: ink. The platform is paper; TAI's room is ink.
And it lasts exactly as long as it is useful. Empty, the panel is ink and introduces itself. The instant you type, it returns to paper and becomes the working surface, because results, offers and drafts belong to the platform. The higher dimension is the moment you arrive; the work is ordinary and auditable, which is the point.
The launcher at rest
Thinking
One line naming what it is reading, and a single sweep. It stays ink because there is still nothing to work with, and it says which books it is in rather than spinning.
The moment you type, it is paper again
No transition to admire, no branding to sit through. The ink was an introduction, and an introduction that repeats itself is an obstacle.
04 / what TAI can do
Six examples in a launcher cannot carry a seven-capability assistant, and the first thing people ask about an AI is not how to use it but what it is allowed to do. So there is a dedicated surface, reached from the launcher's foot, from the account menu and from Help. It states each capability in the platform's language, gives prompts you can run by clicking, and ends with the part that earns the trust: what TAI will never do.
TAI reads everything you can read, on the entity you are in. It answers from the books rather than from memory, cites the records it used, and drafts work for you to commit. It never acts on its own.
Every coded record on the platform, plus customers, travellers, suppliers and colleagues by name.
"Marchetti""BKG-" to list bookingsMoney, funnel, fulfilment, service and supplier exposure, computed from the ledger rather than estimated.
"what did we bill in July?""which customers are past terms?"A shut gate, a fallen margin, a cancellation clause, a supplier's terms as they apply here.
"why can't I issue the Kyoto flights?""what does this policy cost us on the 14th?"Flights, hotels, transfers and activities through the supplier APIs, with Rate Proof and honest coverage.
"business class MXP to HND on 14 Sep for 2""4 rooms in Kyoto, 14 to 21 Sep, refundable"An enquiry, a quotation, an item, a reminder or a message, built from what it just found and left in draft.
"draft a quotation for Marchetti from that""write the customer a note about the delay"Any answer becomes a standing question. The next change arrives in your notifications instead of being re-asked.
"tell me when Marchetti's balance clears""watch the Kyoto gate"Trust in an assistant is built by its limits far more than its abilities, and the limits are the part a person cannot discover by trying. Stating them beside the capabilities is what lets someone use the powerful half without hesitating over it.
05 / find
The echo chip lives inside the field, right-aligned, and names what was read. There is no chip row under the field: the entity is already stated permanently in the rail, and repeating it there is furniture.
06 / answer
The answer names whose books and at what date, sets its prose in Inter and its figures in mono, and lists what it read as ordinary result rows. The new move is the last follow-up: Watch this turns the question into a standing one, and the next change arrives in the notification centre instead of being re-asked.
Where an honest answer would need a record the reader may not see, TAI does not answer from the narrower set. It says "Some records are outside your access, so this total would be incomplete", answers what it can in full, and names the count it could not read without naming the records. A confident wrong total is the worst thing this feature could produce.
07 / search supply
Twenty fares with times, cabins, baggage and Rate Proof cannot live in a 640px launcher, so the panel does what the work needs: a supply search opens the wide surface. What it searched is stated as a band of facts, coverage is stated honestly, and the results are the platform's own offer rows, ending in the only verb TAI is allowed here, which drafts rather than books.
| Carrier | Depart | Arrive | Duration | Stops | Cabin & fare | Baggage | Net | Sell | Proof | |

08 / compose and prepare
Asked to compose, TAI shows the record it is about to create, not a description of it: the same bands, the same figures, the same gaps a person would see on the page. What is missing is named rather than filled in with a guess, and the commit is a single ink verb that hands the work to the ordinary flow.
| Item | Detail | Dates | Net | Sell | State |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Milan Malpensa to Tokyo Haneda | Flight · 2 pax · Business Emirates EK 205 / EK 318 via DXB | 14 Sep | 6,240.00 | 7,180.00 | Draft |
A missing cancellation policy is the difference between a quotation that can be shared and one that cannot, and a model is perfectly capable of inventing a plausible one. Naming the gap keeps the person who is accountable in the loop at the only moment it matters. The same holds for a margin under the floor, an unnamed traveller, or a supplier whose terms are not captured: TAI states them and stops.
09 / what this adds to the system
One: the scope as drawn, seven capabilities, with Prepare and Watch included or held back. Two: supply search opening the wide surface, against keeping everything at 640px and sending supply results to the marketplace instead. Three: whether Compose may draft a quotation directly, or only ever an enquiry, leaving quoting to a person.
